2351TEM– Photoelectric Smoke/Thermal detector

The 2351TEM photoelectric smoke/thermal detector forms part of the Series 300 range of conventional detectors. This range of detectors has been produced using the latest in manufacturing and design techniques, pushing out the boundaries of existing conventional detector technology. With its multitude of innovative features, the Series 300 is a detector which ‘acts conventionally, thinks intelligently.

The 2351TEM photoelectric smoke/thermal detector incorporates an optical chamber and a thermal element, which in turn are continually monitored by an on board processor by using algorithms developed specifically for the unit. An alarm signal is only enabled in the detector once the processor is satisfied that an incipient fire has been detected. By using a combination of inputs, the incidence of nuisance alarms is reduced while at the same time, the response time to an actual fire is also improved.

The 2351E photoelectric smoke detector forms part of the Series 300 range of conventional detectors. This range of detectors has been produced using the latest in manufacturing and design techniques, pushing out the boundaries of existing conventional detector technology. With its multitude of innovative features, the Series 300 is a detector which ‘acts conventionally, thinks intelligently.

The 2351E photoelectric detector incorporates an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). Combined with the latest state of the art optical chamber the detector provides efficient and accurate detection of fires with a high level of resilience to non-fire environmental influences.

The three thermal detectors (58°C and 78°C fixed temperature and a rate of rise) thermal detector use state of the art thermal elements combined with application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) to provide quick and accurate detector of fires through temperate levels or changes.

The S300ZDU Zonal Display Unit forms part of the Series 300 detector range. This range of conventional detectors has been produced using the latest in manufacturing and design techniques, pushing out the boundaries of existing conventional detector technology. With its multitude of innovative features, Series 300 is a detector range which ‘acts conventionally, thinks intelligently.

The S300ZDU is a wall mounted module that connects directly between the Fire Control Panel and Series 300 detectors on each detector circuit (see figure 1 for wiring diagram details). Due to the advanced nature of the Series 300 range, when a detector goes into an alarm condition it transmits a numeric address to the S300ZDU. The S300ZDU displays the detectors’ numeric address on its 4 digit LCD display. In the event that more than one detector on the same zone goes into alarm, the S300ZDU will scroll through all of the appropriate addresses. This unique feature differentiates Series 300 from all other conventional fire alarm systems, providing quick and accurate information about the location of the fire (see figure 2 - S300ZDU display details).

The S300ZDU also has the ability to display short circuit wiring fault conditions, helping to increase the integrity of the Fire Alarm System.
All of these advanced features are achieved without the need of a local power supply. The S300ZDU is completely transparent to the Fire Control Panel. Therefore, the Fire Control Panel can continue to provide zonal indication of an alarm condition while the S300ZDU communicates with the Series 300 detectors to display the address of those detectors in alarm.

To capitalise on the advanced features the S300ZDU can provide in a fire alarm condition, placement of the unit is vitally important. Therefore, we recommend that an S300ZDU be placed at the point of entry to each fire zone.

6500 Series Beam Detector

The 6500RS and 6500R are conventional reflector- type linear optical beam smoke detectors designed to operate as components of conventional fire alarm systems. They operate primarily on the principle of light obscuration utilising an Infra-Red beam. Optical beam smoke detectors are particularly appropriate for protecting buildings with large open spaces such as warehouses, atriums etc.

The 6500RS and 6500R detectors are combined transmitter/receiver units that can be directly connected to a conventional detector circuit. The Infra-Red transmitter generates a beam of light towards a high efficiency reflector. The reflector returns the beam to the receiver where an analysis of the received signal is made. The change in the strength of the received signal is used to determine the alarm condition. The 6500RS features Asuretest, the unique remote test capability that fully tests both the optics and the electronics of the device. An optical filter is automatically introduced in front of the optics, attenuating the returned beam and causing the unit to go into alarm.

Alignment of the detector is simplified with the aid of the detector’s "gunsight" targeting device. Alignment of the detector with the reflector can then be “fine tuned” with the aid of a numerical signal strength indicator.

The sensitivity of the detector can be set to between 25% and 50% obscuration, providing application flexibility to suit the environment in which the detector will be installed. In addition to four fixed value alarm thresholds, there are two variable thresholds that automatically compensate for changes in the environment which could otherwise result in unwanted alarms while remaining within a known sensitivity range.

The detector incorporates automatic drift compensation, whereby the detector will adjust its detection thresholds in line with any long term signal reduction of the beam caused by contamination of the optical surfaces.

The detector can be adjusted up to 10¡ vertically and horizontally for alignment. Where greater angular adjustment is required, the multi-mount accessory enables the detector to move through 28¡ vertically and 360¡ horizontally when ceiling mounted or up to 23¡ vertically and 90¡ horizontally when wall mounted.
